5. Piltdown Man and his Bizarre Excavations

In 1859 Charles Darwin published his view-changing body of work “On the Origin of Species” which led to a frantic search for human fossils in order to prove, or disprove, his claims. Scientist Charles Dawson was the first to come up with a piece of proof: a human jaw and facial bone. After being examined it was advertised as being a legitimate human bone by top of his field paleontologist Arthur Smith Woodward. What was discovered over the next decades was that this bone was not human but actually the bone of an orangutan that had been modified to better conform to the shape of a human.

4. The true weight of a suit of armor

The myth says that armor was quite heavy, and not without good reason, they’re giant plates of metal but in combat too heavy of an amor could mean demise. The truth about armor’s weight is that it’s roughly between 30 – 50 pounds which sounds just about right for stopping blades and isn’t that much of an obstruction to movement to soldiers.

3. Stonehenge and its Origin

Many will argue over the origin of these famous stones in the United Kingdom claiming that they’ve been there for countless years placed by a force greater than our own. 2. Saddam Hussein and Weapons of Mass Lying

We’ve all heard this one, that Saddam Hussein had Weapons of Mass Destruction hidden somewhere and it gave the right fuel to start a war for the greater good of the world. The thing is the intelligence this was based off of was actually skewed from the get go by two by players involved in the threat assessment. First Ahmed Alwan al-Janabi whom German Intelligence had strong doubts about and Muhammad Harith, former intelligence officer in Iraq, making these claims quite weak. To top it all off, British intelligence went on to completely discredit this information even before the war began.

1. Gandhi, Peace, and Darkness

Many refer to Ghandi as the embodiment of peace. However when his wife got sick, he refused her medicine that could have saved her life saying he would not have alien medicine injected into her body only to do the exact opposite after he fell ill and she had passed away. After receiving freedom from the British, he had no quarrels with their caste system, aiming for a “pure” race. Further on he was one to promote bigoted ways of thinking, a “Sexual Cleansing”, promoting the removal of homosexual traditions in temples.
