Community Creates GoFundMe to Stop Disabled Woman’s Eviction

Nowadays, most of us see our neighbors as people who happen to live on the same street, rather than a community.

Thankfully, that isn’t the case for Alice Smith.

Alice contracted polio as an infant, leaving her both physically and mentally disabled. Before they passed away, her parents made sure the family home was paid for in full so she could continue living there.

However, when taxes increased to $85,000 a year, she got behind on payments and was about to be kicked out of the only home she had ever known.

Alice’s brother and grandson knew they had few options and started a GoFundMe, hoping for even a little bit of extra money.

But they didn’t expect what happened next.
