Elderly Woman Tasked to Perform Prayer at Dinner, Turns into Deadpan Comedy Special

HomeInstead held a convention to honor their employees and caregivers that worked at their retirement homes back in 2009. The owners of the chain had asked their good friend Mary Maxwell to perform the invocation at the dinner. She gladly obliged and the day of the event she came on stage gracefully, delivering a well written prayer asking god to bless their meal and their lives. Nothing out of the ordinary until she came back to the podium to present something a little different to the crowd.

She steps to the side after her “Amen”, but quickly returns saying “As long as I have the mic…” and begins one the funniest old age comedy speeches you’ve ever heard! Using her ferocious deadpan humor to wow the crowd, she goes off ranting about the difficulties and haphazardness of her growing years. Lines like “Neck tissue seems to develop a life of its own.” briefly pausing to add, “Last November, I was afraid to leave the house Thanksgiving week.” a turkey basted joke that had the entire room in tears!

Watch below as she delivers her terrific speech!
