Lizzie is a three-year-old form Missouri. She accidentally fell into her aunt’s pool, but nothing went tragically wrong because her brother pulled her from the water. He saved her.

“She was gray in the face, blue in the lips, and her eyes were in her head,” he told KFVS-TV. “She was spitting up water and stuff. I didn’t know what was happening. I was really scared.”

The family thought they were in the clear, but then Lizzie got lethargic and was falling asleep.

Her aunt ran in and said “Don’t let that baby fall asleep, she won’t wake back up”.

Lizzie was suffering from secondary drowning, it’s rare but can be fatal. Basically, your body goes into shock from almost drowning and continues to perpetuate the symptoms. Symptoms include coughing, sleepiness, throwing up or lethargy.
