Food waste is a big problem, especially in the western world. Generally, we’ve got too much perfectly edible food that goes unused and then gets thrown in the trash. At the same time, a large slice of the population is food insecure, meaning that they often don’t know when or if their next meal is coming. It only makes sense that this excess food should be going to the people who need it the most. Sadly, there are very few cost-effective or sustainable ways to transport it.
 
Thankfully for this community in Britain, a local KFC restaurant has offered a helping hand. Instead of throwing out unused chicken, they freeze it and allow the shelter to come and pick it up free of charge. It’s a small gesture that has a significant impact on the organization, which aids roughly 120 people a day.
