Atticus Edmunds is, as his mother describes him, a willful little guy. Atticus was born to Bear and Tresa Edmunds in 2008. He was diagnosed in 2009 with cerebral palsy. Doctors told his parents that it was unlikely he would ever walk. Tresa is not so sure about that. She thinks that Atticus has it in him to surprise everyone. He’s not quite at walking yet, but he’s started shredding with the other kids his age.

Atticus’ birth was completely unpredictable. His mother had spent years trying to get pregnant and was convinced that she was infertile. She got pregnant in 2007, ultimately resulting in a miscarriage. Against the odds, Atticus was born a year later. It would appear that in his blood is a desire and a need to push the limits of what’s possible.

As is often the case with cerebral palsy, his motor functions are limited, so he is confined to a wheelchair. That hasn’t stopped him yet, though. With an assist from his father, Atticus rides his chair all around the skatepark, experiencing the same thrill-seeking rush as most children his age.
