The Longest-Married Couple in the US Just Celebrated a Historic Wedding Anniversary

With most marriages ending in divorce, it’s refreshing to see a couple stick it out for the long haul!

In 2013, John and Ann Betar were named the unofficial longest-married couple in the United States, and recently, the pair celebrated a whopping 85 years of marriage!

The two went on their first date in 1932 when they were 21 and 17 years old. Only a few days later, they decided to elope.

“And they said it wouldn’t last!” John laughed years later.

Together, they share five children, 15 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren—love really is the gift that keeps on giving!
