Every city or town has those abandoned buildings that everyone knows you just don’t go near.

For Cincinnati, Ohio, the historic firehouse in the Walnut Hills neighborhood is one of those buildings. After a tragic fire in 1977, it was abandoned and never touched—until now.

Local developer Kent Hardman negotiated with the city and managed to buy the building for a mere $1—less than what I spent on my morning coffee.

But considering there was no roof and a tree was growing on the first floor, I can understand why the city wanted to get the building off their hands.

Hardman took the building and transformed it into something amazing. He made the top floor a loft for him to live in, and the bottom floor is a pizzeria.
