It was another day in the line of duty they had trained for. On a sunny day in Anaheim, California, police officer R.J. Young and his K9 partner Bruno were chasing down a suspect. While chasing the suspect during a gunfight, Bruno was shot in the face at point blank range.

The German Shepherd barely whimpered and returned to his partner’s side, even though he was bleeding profusely. It took an incredible amount of teamwork and a police escort to get Bruno to an animal care center where he could get the help and medical attention he needed. Thankfully, Bruno made a great recovery, and is no doubt going to return to the line of duty and help keep America safe.
