It’s not that surprising when a bad version of the Star Spangled Banner makes the news. That it’s a beautiful anthem is one of the few things most Americans can agree on. As a result, whenever someone botches the national anthem, people get upset. REALLY upset. Thankfully, that’s not the case today.
Carlton Smith was working the basketball game as a University Police Officer. The snowy conditions outside wreaked havoc on the roads and on people’s schedules. As a result, the person who was originally planned to be the singer couldn’t make it before the tipoff. Carlton decided to answer the call, and it seems the fine folks of Morgantown were very happy that he did!
