We all have keepsakes that are precious to us for one reason or another. Sometimes, it’s a memento of a lost loved one—other times, it’s a souvenir from a special vacation. Regardless, if it goes missing, we feel like a part of us is gone with it.

That’s how Vicky Pyne felt when she lost a necklace given to her by her teenage daughter Alice, who passed away from Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2014. When Vicky went on vacation to New York City one year after her daughter’s death, the necklace fell off when she was sightseeing.

She posted on Facebook, asking if anyone had found her beloved piece of jewelry. By an incredible stroke of luck, another family found it on the street!
