Life has its challenges. It is altogether undoubted. Day by day, there are those times and moments where we feel all too human and perhaps say ‘I just want to go home and back to bed’. Those are the days we feel like giving up. Those are the days we just want to begin again tomorrow. Those are the days we write off. In recent years, Don and Lorraine Moir have surely known days like that. Married in 1989, this couple lived otherwise loving and happy lives until 1995 when Don was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

For those unfamiliar with ALS, it is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that over time continues to weaken and diminish the nerve cells in the brain, and in turn leads to a diminished function and ability to do a number of things, such as the ability to talk. This is what happened to Don in 1999. The immensity and difficulty of facing that reality — that a man once so active and full of life had now been weakened to a point where even speaking was an impossible task — is the sort of scene that would bring most folks to tears; as Don, Lorraine and family surely did.

Yet, though Don was weakened, he was not defeated. With the involvement of Mick Ebeling and Not Impossible Labs, we see in this video a tremendous story of staring down the stormy seas of life we now and then encounter, safe and secure in the knowledge ‘whenever there’s a will, there’s a way.’ Within this video, a great story of Don finding a way forward is shown; a story of innovators seeking out new and practical solutions to the otherwise immense problems we can face in life, and within it showcasing a story that will leave you with the warm fuzzies.
