It’s always a welcome idea to honor the memory of those who lost their lives for our safety.

In 2013, Sergeant Michael Ollis made the ultimate sacrifice when he took the brunt of the explosion from a suicide bomber. Ollis used his body to shield Polish lieutenant Karol Cierpica from the blast.

Ollis’ sacrifice has been well honored by honored by his country and his military. In fact, it seems that a new ferry in Staten Island might bear his name. But the ultimate tribute came from lieutenant Cierpica directly.

Three years after Ollis saved his life, Cierpica has decided to honor the soldier by naming his son Michael.

Rest in peace, Sergeant Ollis.
