Rescuers Find Dog Abandoned by Family, Realize He’s Been Eating Rocks

Often looked at as a cheerful dog, he wasn’t always like this. When a dog, light brown in colour was picked up near an abandoned home, the rescuers had no idea they would come to find rocks inside his stomach.

The pooch was picked up at a house that used to belong to a family until they moved out in 2016. No one knew the reason why they didn’t bring their four-legged companion, other than that the hound had to take care of himself for a year on the streets. Without anyone to care for him, he began to develop multiple health problems.
 

 
He was given the name of ‘Stewie’ and he was brought to the hospital where he stayed for two weeks to heal up. For a whole year, Stewie was off on his own and when he couldn’t find any real food on his own, he turned to eating rocks just to fill the void. It turns out along with the rocks inside his stomach, he also had multiple eye, ear and skin infections including a flea infestation. Though all the rough times in Stewie’s life, it was finally starting to get better. He has been now put up for adoption, infection-free and ready to be looking for a new home.
