Retired Marine Uncle Gets His Wedding Wish During Niece’s Ceremony

There isn’t anything we wouldn’t do for the ones we love, whether they are blood relatives or not.

One uncle showed his dedication to his niece on her wedding day in the most adorable way.

Though he was sick, part of the consequences of his 92 years on earth, he wanted to participate in her wedding.

How? As her something blue!

“What’s your goal?” One of the nurses asked him.

“To be her “Something Blue” on her wedding day,” my uncle replied from his hospital bed.
My 92 year old uncle was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during WWII and served in combat on Naha in Okinawa.
After a bout with pneumonia and an extended stay in rehabilitation, he was able to meet his goal on May 13th, 2017, my wedding day. There wasn’t a dry eye in the church when he was escorted down the aisle in his dress blues. It was such an honor to have him serve as my “Something Blue” on my wedding day and a memory that will last a lifetime.”
