How Easy Is It to Steal the Rolls-Royce Spirit of Ecstasy Hood Ornament?

The Rolls-Royce is a luxury car, and owning one gives its driver an air of sophistication and success. Naturally, this can lead to resentment from those who can’t afford to own one. That could likely be said of most luxury cars, but the Rolls-Royce has an additional feature that paints a sort of target on its hood – The Spirit of Ecstasy.

Kneeling Spirit of Ecstasy

The Spirit of Ecstasy is the name given to the angel that adorns the hood of every Rolls-Royce. Hood ornaments are often a target for vandals – especially when they come from a luxury car – but the Spirit is in particular danger due to its prominence. In the past, people have been known to try and lift the angel from the car, both devaluing the car and breaking the “spirit” of its driver, so to speak.

But how easy is it really to steal the Spirit from a Rolls-Royce? Well, since 2004, each Rolls has come with a counter measure to ensure that the Spirit is not removed from her place of honor mounted on the car’s hood. What kind of counter measure? No matter what trickery you try to pull, that statuette isn’t going anywhere. Check out a demonstration in the video below!
