In the small Canadian city of Moncton, the season of giving and the spirit of generosity have come early for Fernand Gautreau. Fernand has been living on the streets of Moncton for three years and every year around Christmas, he dresses up as Santa for the local kids since he more than looks the part. Unfortunately, thieves stole his bag, his bike, and most of his belongings.
Learning about his plight, Aleisha MacPherson wrote a Facebook post that made its way through the community. The response was huge. Locals brought him a new bike, a new trailer for the bike, and of course a new Santa Suit. The generosity has also encouraged Fernand to see the new suit as a new person, and he’s tackling his alcohol problem. We’re wishing him all the best!
