Tortoise Rescue Saves Twin Tortoise Babies Trapped Inside Their Egg

A Western Hermann tortoise was watching her eggs hatch when the founder of the rescue she was at noticed something was wrong.

One of the hatchlings wasn’t able to break out of its shell. It’s usually not good to intervene, but owner Chris Leone knew he had to save their lives.

The egg contained two babies!

The egg membrane hadn’t fully broken, which is why they struggled.

He used a piece of dental floss to separate the two babies and they’re both healthy and happy!
