Steve DeVries is a retired combat medic for the United States army. He served his country for two tours in Iraq and is now living back home. Though he has many medals and awards for his service, he also has a painful reminder of his time in the military. In 2007, he suffered a spinal cord injury when an explosion blew up his car.
Upon returning home, DeVries found it hard to adjust to normal life and learn how to live with his new back. Things were hard.
Then earlier this month, DeVries and his daughter were honored at a New York Giants game -his favorite. During the halftime show, they stood waving up into the stands when something burst onto the field. DeVries life is forever changed.
