It was a normal Wyoming day for Ian Sandefer. He was going out to get his children some breakfast when everything changed. As he came around the bend in the road he saw his house engulfed in flames, his children still inside.
He was faced with the ultimate parental horror, when someone tapped him on the shoulder: “Your kids are already out.”

Chris Poe, an Iraq war veteran, had seen the fire and without a second thought ran inside to find Mason and Hailey and carried them out safely. Poe saved the lives of those children, and Sandefer summed it up best when he said “I’d like to say thank you. To put yourself at risk to help somebody you never met, a family you don’t know.”
